Swisscom DevOps Community
Our software development and operations department has got an ambitious goal: Becoming the #1 DevOps community in Europe by the year 2025. In order to reach this ambition, we are continuously investing in innovation, DevOps capabilities, quality and mastery. We need the best teams with the best engineers, to create the best DevOps setup. That’s why we started to build up new DevOps centers in the Netherlands and in Latvia aside of our existing presence in Switzerland. Both locations are fully integrated sites in our business in Switzerland, teams are working in a distributed agile setup. We believe in the power of diversity and we are proud to have a community with more than 50 nationalities in Rotterdam.

DevOps Cloud Engineer

Rotterdam, Zuid-Holland

Become part of a DevOps Cloud infrastructure team. You are involved in the design, development, testing, and operating of our cloud-based communication platform.

What you will do

Working in interdisciplinary teams according to the DevOps method, your core activities are the design, development, and testing of the new cloud-based communication platform that we are creating for our client. Analyzing technical vulnerabilities in current and future systems on the basis of customer feedback and best practice is, therefore, an integral part of your role. Doing so you will work with state-of-the-art technology (K8's based) and methodology (GitOps) and will be able to shape the development by bringing your own ideas into the project. In this capacity, you work closely with stakeholders and are the go-to person for business inquiries and troubleshooting. In meetings, you make a note of requirements and translate these into workable development solutions.

Why you succeed

  • IT diploma or equivalent degree in computer science, information systems, or related equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure development
  • Expertise in agile development methods (Scrum, Kanban, DevOps)
  • Experience in automation, continuous integration/deployment (Jenkins, ArgoCD, app of apps - gitops methodology), and monitoring (Prometheus, elk, fluentd, grafana)
  • Experience in programming languages, mainly (but not limited to): shell scripting, GO, Python, Java
  • Expertise in infrastructure as a code, secret and configuration management (Ansible, Terraform, Vault, Service mesh (Istio, linkerd))
  • Experience in security (SAST (checkmarx, snyk, owasp zap), AVR (xray, twistlock). Runtime defence (OSSEC, WAZUH, Twistlock), DAST (metasploit, burp)) a plus

DevOps Engineer (.Net/Angular)

What you will do

The Agile-Release-Train-Network Infrastructure & Construction (ART NIC) within the Large Solution NILS makes all work on processes and IT systems more flexible, faster, and more efficient. In doing so, it relies on agile working methods as well as BizDevOps. This includes development and operations. As part of the team, you help determine ongoing projects and thus significantly shape the further development of the systems.

Responsabilities

  • You are responsible for developing and maintaining our order management system connectnow with other DevOps Engineers
  • You collaborate with the DevOps teams of the ART NIC systems to develop new features and resolve incidents and implement changes quickly and efficiently.
  • You further develop and maintain the continuous integration and continuous delivery pipeline.
  • You actively interact with other software developers, product owners, software architects, and users to understand better what needs to be developed
  • You actively take part in the planning, system demos, and inspect & adapt events

Requirements

  • Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or similar experience
  • In-depth experience in software development in the frontend environment (Angular 2+, HTML, CSS)
  • In-depth experience in software development in the backend .NET Core (C#)
  • Very good knowledge in dealing with REST API
  • Experience with tools like Jenkins and Elasticsearch is an advantage
  • Understand complex requirements and break them down into simpler tasks
  • Enthusiastic and communicative
