How does Euroclear leverage technology to drive innovation?
Euroclear leverages technology in several ways to drive innovation. One of the key initiatives is the Identity and Access Management Programme (IAMEuroclear), which is an ambitious business transformation project that impacts everyone at Euroclear and helps maintain our high standards. Additionally, we use advanced technologies such as Robotics Process Automation (RPA), Intelligent Data Capture (IDC), and Natural Language Processing (NLP) to support operational excellence and deliver innovative products and services. We also organize hackathons to encourage creativity and innovation among employees. Euroclear leverages technology to drive innovation by consistently investing in advanced platforms and AI-related tools. In my area of expertise, ServiceNow, securing funding for frequent upgrades is crucial. It not only ensures security, but also a possibility to use recent features that comes with each release. Recently, we have deployed Now Assist for Creator, that utilises GenAI to significantly accelerate our development processes and increase quality.

How did your career path bring you to Euroclear?
Hello, my name is Soumia. Originally from Morocco, I studied aerospace engineering and came to Europe for an exchange semester and internships. During this time, I discovered my interest in technology and decided to apply my aerospace background to IT. I joined Euroclear three years ago and currently work in the settlement tribe in the GBS department.
How has working at Euroclear supported your growth and development, especially throughout the IT Newbies Programme?
When I joined Euroclear, I had no background in mainframe programming. However, Euroclear provided a three-month training course that helped me get the basics. Additionally, I had a buddy system where I could ask business and technical questions, making the transition smoother. The supportive environment and the willingness of seniors to help have been instrumental in my growth.
How do you encourage innovation and drive progress within your team?
Working in IT at Euroclear involves understanding both the technical and business perspectives. By having meetings with business stakeholders, we gain insights from a client point of view, which helps us innovate and improve our solutions. Encouraging open communication and collaboration within the team is key to driving progress and fostering innovation
What advice would you give to other women aspiring to leadership positions in IT?
For women aspiring to leadership positions in IT, my advice is to always be confident and ask questions. Don’t be afraid to fail, as failure is a stepping stone to success. Seek support and build trust with your colleagues. Remember that with the right support and confidence you can excel in any field. My role model is my mother, who taught me the importance of self-confidence and resilience.
