Your career at ITER

ITER (“The Way” in Latin) is one of the most ambitious energy projects in the world today.

ITER Team and Workplace Community

Fusion, the nuclear reaction that powers the sun and the stars, is a promising long-term option for a sustainable, non-carbon emitting global energy supply.

The ITER Organization, based in the southern France, welcomes best talents who can together prepare the way to this new energy in a truly multi-cultural work environment.

We offer challenging assignments in a wide range of areas and encourage applications from candidates with all levels of experience. Applications from under-represented candidates such as women are strongly encouraged, as ITER firmly believes that drawing on the full breadth of available skills and expertise is essential to meeting the challenges of one of the most complex scientific and engineering projects ever undertaken.

Anna Encheva, In-Vessel Assembly Project Leader, and Nirbhay Naik, Tokamak Assembly Engineer, explain how machine assembly is proceeding. Also in the scene are ITER Director-General Pietro Barabaschi (centre), heads of state President Macron and Prime Minister Modi and, in the second row, Indian Ambassador to France Sanjeev Singla.

ITER is an international, large-scale scientific collaboration intended to prove the viability of fusion as an energy source, and to collect data that will contribute substantially toward the design and operation of the subsequent first electricity-producing fusion power plants.

Thousands of engineers and scientists have contributed to the design of ITER since the idea for an international joint experiment in fusion was first launched in 1985. The ITER Members—China, the European Union, India, Japan, Korea, Russia, and the United States—are now engaged in a decades-long collaboration to build and operate the ITER experimental device, and together bring fusion to the point where a demonstration fusion reactor can be designed.
