The Data Engineer for Radiometer is a key member of our Data and AI team, staying at the forefront of automating business processes through digitalization and playing a pivotal role in our strategic initiative to enhance data-driven decision-making across the company. In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
• Design, develop, document and maintain robust data pipelines and infrastructure utilizing a suite of Microsoft cloud and on-premises services including Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, and Azure Synapse Analytics.
• Configure, document and maintain CI/CD pipelines.
• Ensure the high standards of data quality, reliability, and scalability across diverse data sources and platforms to support strategic decision-making.
• Actively collaborate with data analysts, data scientists, and business stakeholders to gather data requirements, and translate these into actionable data-driven solutions that align with business objectives.
• Continuously optimize data pipelines and related processes for enhanced performance, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness, ensuring the best use of resources and technology.
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Proficiency in SQL and Python, with a solid foundation in coding best practices and design patterns.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
Preferably you also have:
• Experience in working with Microsoft D365fo and D365ce.
• Experience with the Microsoft Data Engineering suite (Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Data Fabric, Azure Data Bricks)
• Experience in creating products within BI, Machine Learning Models, or other related functions.

The Senior Data Engineer is responsible for spearheading the design, build, and maintenance of robust data pipelines and infrastructure, as well as ensuring data availability, reliability, and quality for scalable AI applications that generate market insights and high-quality sales leads, enhance customer engagement, and directly driving sales.
This position reports to the AI Sales Integration Manager and is part of the Data Science and AI Team located in Cambridge, UK, and will be on-site. At Abcam, our vision is to be the most influential life sciences company for researchers worldwide.
This role will initially be a 12-month fixed-term contract with the possibility of extension.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
- Drive the processing and transformation of data for AI model ingestion, including feature engineering and data versioning.
- Build and optimize data pipelines from various sources, ensuring data availability, quality, and reliability.
- Monitor and maintain the correctness and performance of data pipelines, supporting overall data architecture and integration.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support data needs and ensure seamless integration with existing systems.

The essential requirements of the job include:
- BSc or MSc in a field related to Data Engineering or Computer Science (or equivalent proven experience).
- Multiple years of industry experience.
- Proficiency in dbt, Python, SQL, Redshift, Git, AWS, and Snowflake.
- Experience with data pipelines, structures, platforms, and integration.
- Strong understanding of AI model requirements and data engineering best practices.
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
- Commercial awareness and understanding of Sales and Marketing strategies.
- Familiarity with data security and data privacy concepts.
- Experience with Jira and Confluence.
